When you plan your next visit to the Florida panhandle's 30A, don't miss this hidden gem! Located in Santa Rosa, Eden Gardens State Park is a surprising and beautiful way to spend a morning or afternoon. We visited recently during our spring break week at Topsail Hill Preserve State Park.
We thoroughly enjoyed our first beach vacation as RVers and as a family. The boys had never been to the ocean before! So when I said I had planned a morning picnic at a local garden, they were initially a little less than enthused. But, we were ALL delighted with the experience away from the beach.
“We enjoyed this charming Florida state park and highly recommend it for your next trip to Florida's emerald coast!"
Situated between Destin and Panama City Beach, Eden Gardens State Park is just one mile north of US Highway 98 on County Road 395 with views of the Choctawhatchee Bay. You’ll be greeted by lush vegetation and manicured lawns. Upon arriving, you'll pay the gate fee of $4 per vehicle to tour the garden.

Garden Tour
Be sure to pick up both a state park guide and living shoreline trail guide at the garden entrance. The park guide details the park's history as well as park rules. The living shoreline trail guide will enhance your experience by providing a walking trail map as well as a guide to each of the marked trees and plants along the path. We actually started to the right on the trail. Both directions are beautiful, but I would suggest beginning in the azalea garden to your left as directed by the map.

Garden Trail
The trail marks 18 points of interest and is perfect for a leisurely stroll. We visited in late March and just missed peak azalea bloom. If you are able, time your visit mid-March for the most stunning display of blooms.

Wesley House
The focal point of the park is an historic home known as the Wesley homestead situated in the center of the garden. There are many opportunities to capture your family in this stately setting. In addition, guided home tours are offered for a small fee during daytime hours.

The Wedding Tree
Don't miss the "wedding tree" in the middle of the lawn at the center of the garden. This 600 year old native live oak is a popular photo spot for brides and park visitors alike.

Essentials
There is ample parking immediately to your right after passing the gatehouse and office. (note: there is sufficient room for parking your truck, van or tow vehicle but not a larger RV easily) Restrooms are accessible directly across from the Wesley House along the garden trail. In addition, there are picnic tables located near the garden's entrance and picnic tables with views of the Choctawhatchee Bay perfect for a quaint quiet lunch.

We enjoyed this charming Florida state park and highly recommend it for your next trip to Florida's emerald coast!
